You Have to Create Space To Get What You Want

Clutter has gotten so much attention in the past few years. We hear more and more
about how clutter creates blockages, is visually frustrating -- and in feng shui stops
the flow of energy. But the real problem with clutter is not all the stuff: it's the lack
of space for what you do want.
When you open the space for what you want to attract, you create a vacuum. A
good example is your desk. If you are a business person or an entrepreneur, chances
are your desk is full of clutter, papers, invoices, and mail you haven't read. But, what you need are opportunities.
If there is no space on your desk, the opportunities can't present themselves.
The concept of open space -- particularly open space in front of you -- is called "bright hall." The bright hall is the open space or area in front of a house. When there is open space in front of you or your home or desk, there is an opportunity for energy to gather. So, if every corner is stuffed and bursting at the seams, energetic momentum is stalled.
Think of space as being like a river. In order for a river to flow, there can be no obstructions. When a river is dammed, it obstructs the flow of water. At your home or office, we often have a "dammed mess" that creates obstructions to the energy flowing in our spaces.
Creating space allows energy to flow smoothly in our homes and allows energy to gather. Another example of this is sleeping position. A client recently had a romance consultation. She was concerned about her husband living in one city while she lived in another. They were in a commuter marriage.
I told her that she slept in the man position at her house and the man's side of the room was filled to capacity. In other words, there was no space for the man. We cleaned up her room and I instructed her to sleep on the woman's side (the right side of the bed as you are lying in it). I also told her that with all the clutter out of the room and with her sleeping in the correct position, she might see a change in their relationship. She might feel more longing and more lonely -- and that might propel them to make a change. And all of it was because they created a space for the man to be there! Even the closet had no space for his clothing.
